Parent Meeting 2/13/19

Discussed Season Schedule, Volunteer jobs for Parents, Financials of last year and Fund Raising plans, Raffle ticket sales, Use of Facebook, Website, WhatsApp, and Philosophy of Team. Parent Meeting Notes from 3/22/18

Volunteers- in need of Volunteers for Concessions, Field Work, Scoring but most desperate need is for helping the players with selling Raffle tickets. If you can offer 2 hours to help players to the high volume areas like Ulmers, Safeway, Save-U-More, Gear Shed, etc or to help with phone calls that will be a critical help. If you have a specific volunteer area that you are interested in, please let me know.

Finances- Takes about $18,000 a year to run the program with equipment, field work, travel, housing, etc. Player Fees are crucial (waiver available through Perk) but Raffle Sales are our main source. We are also planning on a garage sale, split the pot at games, concessions, Pick-Click-Give to Homer Foundation for our Foundation account. Also receive superb support from our business supporters- Please look at the list and thank them every chance you get. Seems to take about $400 dollars per player for the season with bus travel, hotel fees,  food, etc. As always, no one will ever be turned away for financial reasons.

Structure of Mariner Softball- We have a formal Non- Profit, Homer Mariner Softball, Inc with a Board of Directors. If you are interested in being a part of that and helping set the long term plans for Mariners and Summer Ball ( the Farm Team) please let us know.

Expectations- laid out on the team page in the handbook. Also, though it has never been a problem, the current Borough and School TAD policy.

Communication- You are already here on the web site. We have a group text for both players and parents. Also have an app (Mariner Softball)  on both App Store and Google Play and will use that for push notifications in addition to other  information. Will send raffle winners out on the app every day also. Also Gamechanger is a great way of following games when we are away. You can sign up for that off the Links page or the home page.

Equipment- we can supply whatever players need or help with selection of personal equipment.  No one needs to be limited from playing for equipment needs

Raffle- Please, Please , Please- help us with this as it is a simple fund raiser and very effective and over the years we have left money on the table by not selling all our ticket. Once the season starts and we start the give-away it is harder to sell and harder to find time to market it. Please help.
